The Most Searched for Beauty Questions in 2016 | Answers
HOW DO I DO A FISHTAIL BRAID?
Fishtail
braids have been a mainstay on the red carpet, catwalks and beach in
recent times, but how exactly can you pull off styling one up?
Try brushing your hair into a long ponytail, secure it with a hair bobble and separate it into two sections.
Then,
take a small piece of hair from the left side and pull it across to the
right, alternating until you reach the bottom of your locks.
When you get there, secure it with another hair tie and tease it out slightly if you want that bohemian, lived-in look. Voila!
HOW DO I MAKE MY HAIR GROW FASTER?
Rapunzel-style manes are at the top of the wish list for many a woman, but besides time, how can you aid one's arrival?
As
well as using hair-stimulating products, avoiding going overboard on
styling gels and massaging your scalp, it also helps to pay attention to
your diet.
Up your protein intake to inspire growth and development, and incorporate some form of protein into every single meal.
You
should also make sure you brush your hair each day, which stimulates
the hair follicles at the base of the scalp and helps to spread the
natural oils from root to tip.
You'll be long-haired in no time.
HOW DO I FILL IN MY EYEBROWS?
The
likes of Cara Delevingne and Lily Rose Depp have ensured eyebrows are
the new lips when it comes to beauty, but it's easy to go overboard and
breach the realms of scary when filling in your brows.
Instead, invest in a decent set of tools, and try pencils and powders to create an illusion of thicker natural brows.
Alternatively,
see a pro and let them re-shape, re-align and colour in your eyebrows
so they look best - that way, you'll know for next time.
HOW DO I CURL MY HAIR?
You can curl your hair with your straighteners as well as with curling tongs, if you know how.
Try
winding a one-inch section around the top plate of your iron, and wrap
it moving away from your face. Ease your straightener down the lengths
of the hair, and release. Repeat.
HOW DO I REMOVE GEL NAILS?
It
might be tempting to skip the salon and simply peel off your gel
manicure, but you can get polish free at home, too - as long as you're
prepared to invest a bit of time.
First
up, get a nail file and start to buff off the first layer of polish so
that the nail varnish looks matte. Then, buy some acetone, cotton wool
and tin foil and apply the acetone-soaked cotton wool to your nail,
securing it with the foil.
Leave
on for about 15-20 minutes, before checking to see how much the nail
polish is flaking off, pushing off the remainder with a wooden stick.
It's time consuming, but the alternative is paying for it at the nail salon.
HOW DO I CLEAN MY MAKE-UP BRUSHES?
Keeping
your make-up brushes is beneficial for so many reasons - it will reduce
the number of breakouts you suffer from and leave your skin looking
flawless.
Gently cleanse your brushes with soap and warm water, and make sure you leave them to dry fully before using them again.
HOW DO I APPLY CONCEALER?
Whether
you're using it to cover a spot, conceal under-eye circles or using it
elsewhere on your face, concealer is an essential in many women's beauty
arsenal.
But according to many beauty experts, about 70 per cent of women apply it wrongly.
Firstly,
prep your skin and eyes first with moisturiser and primer, and
re-consider what you're using with regard to formula and colour.
Your
skin will look different at various points in the year so you may need
two or three concealers depending on the time of year.
Then, apply and blend - use your fingertips for your under-eyes and a brush for other areas of the face.
WHAT IS BALAYAGE?
Balayage has been the last word in hair colour for at least the past year, and with good reason, too.
The free-form hair painting style creates a multi-tonal, sunkissed look for your locks, which is wonderfully low maintenance.
Take inspiration from the likes of Gisele Bundchen and Jessica Alba, who are all fans of the French colouring technique.
HOW DO I SHAPE MY EYEBROWS?
Like filling in your brows, shaping them is equally important and requires an equally good set of tools.
Brush your brows upwards to see what natural shape they take and don't over-tweeze.
The biggest mistake you can make is removing too many of your eyebrow hairs.
HOW DO I GET RID OF MY UNDER-EYE BAGS?
Last but not least, dark circles are a concern for countless women.
There
are no blood valves in this area of the skin, so often blood can
accumulate and result in dark circles - they are also hereditary, as
many experts will explain.
Drink
lots of water, get plenty of rest and try an eye mask when feeling
extremely under the weather. Failing that, apply your concealer
correctly

The Great America will be Greatest in lead of Trump
**** is not alone in her experience. Americans still live in a country where about 60% of rape cases are not reported to the police, and even when they are, 97% of rapists will never do time in jail. With more women coming forward lately to speak about being sexually assaulted (as in the case of #####), **** may have felt it was the right time for her, too.

What Will I Do in my Birthday
Ways To Celebrate
Your Birthday
Today I am 27 YEARS OLD! I normally don’t like to announce to the world that it is my birthday – but with a few little pushes from people that I love, I decided to make a special birthday post today. The name of my blog is Today’s The Best Day…. and guess what! Today IS the BEST day! So we are going to celebrate!
1. Go out to a super yummy dinner and go home to have cake and ice cream with friends and family
2. Get a hotel room for the night
3. Go out to a nice dinner with your husband. Let HIM choose and surprise you!
4. Have a family game night
5. Go see a movie
6. Enjoy breakfast in bed and stay in your pajamas all day long
7. Go to the beach
8. Order pizza and rent a movie – date night in!
9. Don’t clean or cook all day
10. Throw a party
11. Go to the temple and thank God for the blessings in your life and the opportunity to be on the planet another year.
12. Go somewhere as a family – a museum or amusement park
13. Go on a vacation
14. Go shopping and buy a new outfit
15. Take a picture as a family every year and see how much you {and each of your family members} change over time
16. Go around town and do acts of service
17. Have a movie day
18. Do something YOU love!
19. Take a nice long bath
20. Have the husband take the kids to the park and enjoy your own quiet time
21. Get a pedicure or manicure
22. Write all of your blessings from the year down in a journal
23. Buy yourself a gift!
24. Check something off your Bucket List {or create one!}
25. Go to karaoke or do something out of your box.
26. Go to the spa and get a massage
27. Write a note of appreciation to the people who remembered you on your birthday
My uncle would send his mom flowers on HIS birthday every year, just
to say thank you for giving him life and being such a good mom. His
sweet mother has passed on now, but being a mom myself now, I know how
special that is. I am sure she loved that act of kindness. What a
wonderful way to show your love to YOUR mom, on YOUR birthday! He has
inspired me to do something for my mom every year from now on.One of my favorite quotes that I try to live by is, “She who leaves a trail of glitter…is never forgotten!”I hope as each of our birthday’s approach this year {and many years to come} we remember to take the time to CELEBRATE and have a little GLITTER in life! How blessed we should each feel to have another birthday! To be able to be alive! To be able to spend this time with our family and friends! To experience the joy and happiness this life can bring! To spread glitter everywhere we go!
I am so grateful to be a little older today! I am excited to celebrate and to spend time with the people that I love so much! I hope we all will remember to make a memory and to find joy in the journey of life. Here is to 27… I hope it feels like heaven!
Don’t forget to share! –

IDEA by Elizabeth Rider
1. “Let go of what does not serve you” is a motto to live by. Relationships,
careers, habits, ideas, etc. As hard as it is to let go, there’s
something better waiting, and you’ll never find it if you don’t let go
of what’s holding you back.
2. Judgement
is an inner reflection. People that judge you are really just judging
themselves. Same goes for you, too. If you’re judging someone, look
inwards.
3. Your real
friends know everything about you and still love you. And most
importantly, they love you and want you to live an amazing, abundant
life.
4. Karma is real. Treat people well. It will always come back to you.
5. Marriage is a wild ride. And so, so worth it if you’re with the right person. (2014 Update: This is more true every year!)
5b. I’ll ask more of my husband than he’ll ever ask of me. I actually think this is a truth in most relationships.
5c. We’re really excited to have kids someday.
6. Women turn
into their mothers and men turn into their fathers. It’s just true. (In
my case I think this is a 99-percent good thing — love you, Mom!)
7. Ladies, a
professional-quality hair dryer is really worth the cost. Super random
but I had to throw this in. (2014 Update: Still true. I’m in love with
my “Buttercup” from DryBar.)
8. Football is religion in some families.
9. Surround yourself with people who love you and want you to be happy. Not the ones that are miserable and want you to be miserable, too. (See #1)
(2014 Update:
Have compassion for people who have a negative outlook on life. Approach
them with love and don’t let them trigger you — your kindness and
compassion might just turn them around.)
10. Fear
must be conquered. You’ll always be afraid of something, so you might
as well get over it and move onto the next thing. Putting myself out on
the internet/blogosphere has been incredibly terrifying and rewarding at
the same time. (2014 Update: SO true. If you learn one thing from me this should be it.)
11. Phenomenal business aren’t built on ideas and visions.
They’re built on action and good old-fashion hard work. Don’t get me
wrong, stellar ideas and visions are important, but lots of people have
them. Executing them is the challenge.
12. The differences in people’s thoughts, opinions and ideas is what drives innovation and makes the world go round.
13. Competition drives the market, plain and simple. Embrace it. The world is abundant and there is enough to go around.
14. Don’t
“what-if” yourself to death. Our minds can make up stories and
“what-if” us into never taking action. Give your choices careful
consideration, but let life play itself out. If a venture doesn’t work
out, who cares? At least you tried.
15. Money truly does not buy happiness, but it can make your life a little more comfortable.
16. Wealth is dependent on the point of view of the person that has it.
17. There’s
nothing wrong with wanting to make a great income and have nice things.
There is something wrong with not being grateful for what you have and
the luxuries you can afford. Be grateful.
18. Men and
women think differently. Learning to communicate in the opposite sex’s
language is essential for relationship success. It goes both ways.
19. Family time
should be cherished and held near and dear to your heart. The time I
spend at Flathead Lake with my family is one of my most treasured
possessions.
20. Good manners are one of your best assets.
20b. It’s rude
to accept calls, texts or let passers-by interrupt and/or intrude on
your conversation. (Family emergencies not withstanding, of course.)
21. World travel is amazing and necessary, but there really is no place like home.
22. Pets make people happier — it’s scientifically proven.
23. Women and men are equal but different beings. I can be traditional and a feminist at the same time.
24. Success
isn’t age dependent. We can learn from people of all ages. Don’t
discredit people that you might think are too young or too old to “get”
you.
25. Living in
gratitude for the things you already have is the first step to
happiness. This goes for physical, spiritual and relationship matters.
26. Catty women have deep issues. Don’t let their misery bring you down. Bless and release them.
27. Education goes so far beyond academia. Find topics you’re passionate about and immerse yourself in them. Never stop learning.
28. Know your
strengths and weaknesses. I’m very athletic (yoga, dance, Pilates, etc.)
but I’m not good at group sports (e.g., basketball, volleyball,
soccer). My friends from high school and college know this well.
29. Women get
better in their 30s (and beyond). I’m going to make 29 an exceptional
year and send off my 20s in happiness and health. (2014 Update: Glad I
was right about this one.)
And the latest and greatest...
30. Relationships translate to connection and connection is the meaning of life.
Not to get too
deep on you, but I really think I’ve found the meaning of life (drops
the mic, exits stage left). Your happiness equates in direct proportion
to the health of your relationships. Work on them constantly.
31. It’s actually possible to turn your big dreams into actionable goals and create the life you want on your own terms.
We really do
get exactly what we ask (God and the universe) for. It might just come
in a different form than expected. Embrace all of it. When life doesn’t
go your way, take a step back and ask, “Is this even better?” It
probably is.
When I was 27 I
said to myself, “I’m going to hit Diamond status with USANA and never
have to work for anyone ever again.” (Diamond status meaning hitting a
high-dollar residual mark, for inquiring minds.) It was a lofty goal. I
started at $0 and I achieved that goal last week.
I had no idea
how I was going to get there, and never thought it would be through
health coaching and my blog. It didn’t happen exactly how I expected it
to, or on the time frame I wanted (I had Veruca from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory syndrome — “I want it now!”), but it did
happen. And life is even better than I ever expected. I love the women
on my team more than I can put into words, and the connection they’ve
given me to a higher purpose vibrates in my soul. (See #30)
32. I feel younger in spirit at 32 than I did at 29, which is really freaking exciting.
I recently ran
into a high school acquaintance while sitting at dinner and we got to
chatting. She’s a few years younger than me and the topic of age came
up.
“I think I feel younger at 31 than I did at 25,” I mused.
She said, “Really?! I’m 28 and feel so old. But I’ve heard women in their 30s say that, what do you think it is?”
“Hmm,” I
thought. “Maybe it’s confidence. Yes, confidence is a big piece of it.
Maybe it’s just more life experience and learning not to take things so
seriously. Or realizing that there is still so much life to live. Or
feeling established. Or having great relationships that have had time to
grow. I’m not exactly sure. I just feel it and it’s AWESOME.”
It makes me
laugh. I felt so adult in my mid 20s, which I’m grateful for because I’m
sure it propelled me to where I am today. But at 32, I can
wholeheartedly say I feel much freer and younger in mind, body and
spirit.
I hope this
post made you think, smile, and remember all of the things you’d like to
tell yourself on your birthday. Use the comments section below to let
me know what you think.
Cheers!

Meaning Analysis | Row, row, row your boat | Screwed up
Row, row, row your boat / Gently down the stream / Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily / Life is but a dream
“Row, Row, Row Your Boat” --- charming nursery rhyme or vain attempt
to inoculate children against the existential meaninglessness of life?
Hidden below the glossy surface of this beloved song is a dark and
bitter commentary on the human condition. Let’s talk about it.
The most critical line is, of course, the final one. “Life is but a
dream.” There’s just no way to pussyfoot around the implications of that
lyric ---what we’re telling kids here is that life has no purpose. The
song isn’t suggesting that life resembles a dream, ie: surreal,
sometimes ideal and sometimes horrific. If it was, the line would be
“Life is like a dream.” No, instead it’s suggesting that life is literally a dream, ie: non-real, an elaborate façade, a hallucination in which your actions are utterly inconsequential.
At first glance, “Life is but a dream” is just a confident embrace of
solipsism, the theory that the self is all that can be known, for sure,
to exist. Ah, if only it were that simple. Pay close attention to the
word “but,” the most important word in the whole song. Now it’d be one
thing to say, “Life is a dream.” Ok, fine, maybe life is a dream, maybe
we are trapped in the Matrix, is that really so awful?
YES. That’s the song’s blunt reply to your question, via the word
“but.” It’s a belittling “but,” hurling condescension at any hopes you
may have for this pleasant fantasyland. If I were to say, “You are but
an American” you wouldn’t think I had a very high opinion of your
nationality, now would you? In the sick, twisted mind of the narrator,
dreams are a sad sub-optimal reality, and “life” is no better.
So now what? Now that you’ve told your doe-eyed son or daughter that
he/she may actually be the lone inhabitant of a pathetic little dream
world, how do you suggest coping with that deeply unsettling
realization? “Just keep rowing your fucking boat kid, and be happy about
it. “
At last we can begin to appreciate the rhyme’s first three lines: a
scathing critique of capitalism conveyed through the tragic hero of the
boat-rower. “Rowing” represents man’s futile attempt to find purpose in
an indifferent, meaningless universe. The boat-rower feels that he’s
exercising his free will, choosing his own path in his own vehicle.
That’s why he’s merry, even when confronted with the fact that life is
“but a dream.”
But is he really free?
First of all, did the boat-rower really choose to row this boat, or
was he coerced into tedious manual labor by the same sick son of a bitch
who later reveals that reality is a big shitty hallucination? Doesn’t
“Row, row, row” sound an awful lot like a command, an order even? The
poor boatman can’t even choose how to row --- he has to do it merrily
and gently (which is pretty difficult, by the way, since rowing requires
a lot of physical exertion and is a violent motion). He’s not in
control of his body or his mind, now that you’ve told him what to do,
how to feel, and where to go.
Second of all, I hate to point out the obvious, but why the fuck
would you row a boat downstream? You could just as easily let the
current carry you. Sounds merrier to me. Rowing serves no purpose
whatsoever. Whether you row or not, you will still arrive at the same
destination, “down the stream,” which is clearly a euphemism for death
(let’s not lose sight of the obvious literary allusion to the boatman of
Greek mythology). What you're telling your kid here is that free will
is an illusion meant to keep you busy, to keep you distracted from the
inescapable meaningless of reality.
And all you’re really doing here is preparing your son or daughter
for the capitalist rat race, for a lifetime of endless “rowing” (aka
working) and forced contentment, despite the fact that nothing is in
your control and life only exists in your head. Don't you see it? God,
even the hypnotic melody of the rhyme is meant to lull you into
complacency and disguise the nursery rhyme’s true message: that life
isn’t a dream, it’s a nightmare.
Life is But a Dream’ Meaning
Most nursery rhymes and fairy tales have a disturbing background
and meaning. So when my siblings and I were lying around in my room and
we started singing ‘Row your Boat’, I figured it’d have some demented
origin. Like rowing to your doom, being drowned or being forced down a
path to your own beheading.
Surprisingly, this one has a good meaning. And when I looked it up, I was smacking my forehead. Because I already knew what it was a metaphor for. What can I say? Sometimes I forget it’s not all burning people to death and water dragons.
Duh. I love the meaning behind this nursery rhyme.
It’s a metaphor for life. We all agree on that. But there are multiple theories on how to break it down, what each object and line mean.
There are two main ideologies and a few random thoughts on specific verses.

Duh. I love the meaning behind this nursery rhyme.
It’s a metaphor for life. We all agree on that. But there are multiple theories on how to break it down, what each object and line mean.
There are two main ideologies and a few random thoughts on specific verses.
ONE
Your boat = your life.
The stream = time. Water is always moving, so is time.
Row, row, row = you’re constantly rowing, constantly moving through
life, constantly working at it. You don’t just row for a little while
and then rest. Uh-uh. No breaks. No rests. Life. Keep moving.
Gently = It’s not a race. You aren’t racing toward the end – um, your
death –are you? Gently row through life, don’t hurry. It’s the trip
(life) not the destination (death).
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily = attitude, personality,
character. How you look at things, positive versus negative, optimist
versus pessimist. Be happy, be passionate on the way. They say attitude
is everything. Enjoy your life, enjoy the ride.
Life is but a dream = Dream or nightmare, we have the ability to
choose what our life will be. We cannot decide what happens, but we can
decide who we are, what we become, how we react, how we cope. It’s our
life, our dream. And our choice.
TWO
Boat = body. It’s the vessel for your movement, changes, growth, learning, development, awareness.
Row, row, row = you have to work for what you want in life, have to
apply effort to get where you want to go. Unless you row, your boat
won’t go anywhere. Be careful of distractions that could pull you away
from your goal. But don’t be so focused, have such blinders on, that you
don’t remain open to change, to life, to possibilities.
Gently down the stream = let go of the past, move toward your future.
Row gently because to push or force or fight the natural direction your
life is leading you will only create stress and upset.
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily = you may already have it hard.
Don’t make it worse. Water can be rough but you can get through. A
negative attitude will not help, in fact, it will make things worse. Use
the challenges you face to make you a better person.
Life is but a dream = touches on the dreamlike state of reality. The
world is physical around us, yet thoughts and emotions change, shift,
alter, transmutation making something less physical, solid. Dreamlike.
RANDOM
- Row, row, row your boat:
You have to row your own boat. No one else’s. Don’t try to control other people. Control yourself.
Rowing takes skill. Practice makes perfect.
When someone is rowing on their own, it implicates free will and the choices they make that decide which paths they take.
When rowing with others, it touches on the need to work together, in unity to reach the intended goal.
- Gently down the stream:
Force creates resistance. Don’t resist if you can flow along with the
water’s natural path and make something of it. This is different than
fighting the challenges, the bumpy stream’s road.
- Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily:
Take challenges in stride, meet them with a joyous attitude and a smile. Go with the flow.
This is not a rehearsal, not a dry run, not a trial run before the
real thing. This is the real thing. You might as well enjoy it. Don’t
waste time being upset longer than need be or by holding grudges when
you could be happy instead.
- Life is but a dream:
So stop making it a nightmare.
It has religious overtones of how life is simply the dream before the consequences/rewards.
Life is only a dream, not real. Everything you do is meaningless. (I don’t like this one.)
Life is a short moment. Only a dream when compared to our eternal soul’s existence.
OUR LIFE
With that in mind, remember that it’s talking about your life for a reason. Ask yourself;
Row, row, row your boat.
Where are you going? Are you headed where you want to be headed? Are
you working for what you want? Are you trying to control someone else’s
life (with good or bad intentions)? Are you trying to control things you
know you can’t/shouldn’t? Are you trying to race through your life? Are
you learning, growing, achieving what you want? Are you open to
positive change? Open to new paths?
Gently down the stream.
Are you fighting things for the sake of fighting them? Are you
fighting for what you believe in without being cruel or
self-destructive? Do you approach your life with hope? Have you worked
through and let go of your past? Are you enjoying the journey, the
process, whatever it is that you’re doing right now? Are you hurrying
through things you could instead be enjoying? Are you flexible when
things change? Do you adapt well to change?
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily.
Are you happy? Why or why not? Are you holding grudges or focusing on
the negative to the point that you’re creating your own heartache? Are
you approaching things with a positive attitude? Do you try to find the
silver lining? Are you passionate about what you’re doing? Are you aware
that regardless of trials, pain, suffering and challenges, there is
always hope?
Life is but a dream.
There are three definitions of a dream :
1: “a succession of images, thoughts, or emotions passing through the mind during sleep.”
2: “a vision voluntarily indulged in while awake; daydream; reverie.”
“an idea or vision that is created in your imagination and that is not
real”
3: “something that you have wanted very much to do, be, or have for a long time”
Are you helping your life to be a dream or a nightmare? How can your
life be more dreamlike; what would you need to do/achieve/change to
shape your life into a dream – your dream? Are you making the right
choices for yourself? If your life is a nightmare, what can you do to
work toward bettering it?
“Row, row, row your boat,
Gently down the stream.
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily,
Life is but a dream.”
Just remember: Water is rough but boats are tough.
